چکیده

We show that there exists an n-bit cyclic binary Gray code all of whose bit runs have length at least n − 3 log2 n. That is, there exists a cyclic ordering of {0, 1}n such that adjacent words differ in exactly one (coordinate) bit, and such that no bit changes its value twice in any subsequence of n − 3 log2 n consecutive words. Such Gray codes are ‘locally distance preserving’ in that Hamming distance equals index separation for nearby words in the sequence.

The low-complexity reconfigurable Variable Walsh Code tree (VWCT) for wireless communication applications such as spectrum sensing and channelization. The proposed a simple technique to construct Walsh code sets of any length recursively using 4-bit Gray and I...

A Dynamic Programming Approach to Generating a Binary Reflected Gray Code Sequence

A binary reflected Gray code (Gray code for short) is a one-to-one function G(i) of the integers 0 • i • 2 – 1 (for some pre-selected value of n) to binary numbers such that the binary number for G(i) and G(i+1) differ in exactly one bit. For example, with N = 3, the Gray codes (written in binary) are 000, 001, 011, 010, 110, 111, 101, 100. In this paper, we describe a dynamic programming algor...

A Survey of Combinatorial Gray Codes

The term combinatorial Gray code was introduced in 1980 to refer to any method for generating combinatorial objects so that successive objects differ in some pre-specified, small way. This notion generalizes the classical binary reflected Gray code scheme for listing n-bit binary numbers so that successive numbers differ in exactly one bit position, as well as work in the 1960’s and 70’s on min...

Spatial Image Watermarking by Error-Correction Coding in Gray Codes

In this paper, error-correction coding (ECC) in Gray codes is considered and its performance in the protecting of spatial image watermarks against lossy data compression is demonstrated. For this purpose, the differences between bit patterns of two Gray codewords are analyzed in detail. On the basis of the properties, a method for encoding watermark bits in the Gray codewords that represent sig...

On Counting Sequences and Some Research Questions

A counting sequence is a list of all binary words of the same length. Counting sequences of any fixed odd Hamming distance between successive words (codewords) are discussed. Gray codes are examples of counting sequences having a single-bit change between neighboring codewords. We describe some results on Gray codes and highlight some research questions. The spectrum of bit changes or transitio...
